VOLUNTEERING AT FIDDLESTICKS
As a community-based organization, we rely on volunteers like you to run our programs and events. Fostering volunteerism in our neighbourhood is a key tenet of what we do. For over 20 years, Fiddlesticks has seen the benefits of having engaged and committed community members; not only as an organization but throughout our neighbourhood.

Celebrating our Amazing Volunteers
Read about the amazing individuals who were named Volunteer of the Year for 2023. These individuals go above and beyond every time they join in to help. Let us know who we should recognize next by letting us know when you see someone going above and beyond!
Amrit B.
Amrit is our superstar youth volunteer of the year. You’ve seen Amrit at various events like Neighbourhood Day and Christmas in the Neighbourhood. In the past, Amrit has been a Leadership Trainee, volunteered with our PD Day and March Break camps and has provided support to our After School Program staff. With an incredible 400+ volunteer hours under her belt in just two years, Amrit brings enthusiasm, kindness and passion to our team of volunteers. Amrit’s dedication to her community is truly inspiring and we’re so fortunate to have her on our team.
Mark M.
Words cannot describe how much Mark McKee means to us here at Fiddlesticks. His commitment and contribution to our programs through volunteerism is unmatched. With over 4,300 volunteer hours logged with Fiddlesticks over the span of 14 years, Mark has dedicated more hours and participated in more programs and events than any other volunteer. If you’ve attended a Fiddlesticks-run activity, you’ve seen Mark. Here’s a list of just some of Mark’s contributions to Fiddlesticks during his time with us: Group Commissioner for our Scouting Program, Youth Dance Chaperone, Bingo Fundraiser volunteer, Neighbourhood Day volunteer, Christmas in the Neighbourhood volunteer, Family Fun Nights, Movie Nights, Wild Water Days, Newsletter distribution, Ice Rink Flooding and maintenance and Gardening and property maintenance. Most recently Mark has joined our Board of Directors. Mark has brought a wealth of kindness, support and expertise to Fiddlesticks and our community. We are deeply appreciative of Mark’s generosity, dependability and willingness to help in any way possible
The Simpson Family
The Simpson family has been involved with Fiddlesticks since 2015. Over these 9 years, they’ve demonstrated how volunteering can truly be a wonderful bonding opportunity for families. With a combined total of 2,400+ volunteer hours between them, The Simpsons are integral members of our community. Along with participating in all the major Fiddlesticks events as a family, Anwen has been a member of our board and Steve has dedicated his time to being a Key Leader with the Explorers division of our Scouting program. Their children, Bronwen and Gareth have both been Leadership Trainees with us and join their father Steve at weekly scout meetings and maintaining the community ice rink during the winter. The Simpsons’ are a family whose passion and dedication to volunteering (especially with our Scouting program) truly deserves to be celebrated and recognized with this award.
